Hymn Story
Submitted by the Barnes Family

How Firm a Foundation is one of our favorite hymns. The music is powerful and the words are dynamic, comforting and a great testimony of our Savior's love.  We like to refer to this hymn as our 'spiritual fight song' with singing the 7th verse memorized. It is our testimony with the promise to be true.

The words to the 7th verse are:
"The so
ul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose.
I will not, I cann
ot, desert to his foes.
That soul, tho
ugh all hell should endeavor to shake,
I'll neve
r, no never, I'll never, no never,
I'll never, no never, to never
forsake!"

We love this hymn and our children love to sing it.  We have been counseled that "Hymns can help us withstand the temptations of the adversary.  We encourage you to memorize your favorite hymns and study the scriptures that relate to them.  Then if unworthy thoughts enter your mind, sing a hymn to yourself, crowding out the evil with the good."
First Presidency Preface, Hymns 1985.  It works!  We found and continue to find the singing of the hymns to be a great blessing in our lives.
