This beautiful arrangement begins in the key of G with a first cello or viola solo, the second cello joining on the third phrase. A piano interlude transitions to the key of A for the second verse, and the first and second parts interchange on the melody. Solo lines are interspersed with wonderful harmonies. The accompaniment transitions to the key of D with rolling triplets for the last verse, building intensity for the soaring cello harmonies. The piece ends with a beautiful, peaceful recap and flourish.
